Université de Nouakchott Al Aasriya
Université de Nouakchott Al Aasriya (UNA), a public university[1] in the city of Nouakchott, Mauritania. It was created in July 2016 from the merger of the Université de Nouakchott and Université des Sciences, de Technologie et de Médecine.[2]
They are also the manager of both ASCII and IDN ccTLDs for Mauritania, .mr[3] and موريتانيا. [4].
NIC-Mauritanie[edit | edit source]
The .mr ccTLD was delegated to the Université de Nouakchott, under the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques (FST) in April 1996, before Mauritania had Internet connectivity. Initially, the domain's name servers were hosted externally through cooperation with the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement in Montpellier, France.
In April 2000, the name servers were repatriated to Mauritania. A Network Information Center (NIC) was established within the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques to manage domain name registration and operate the DNS infrastructure for the .mr zone.[5]
After the unification of both universities, UNA consequently carried being the manager for .mr and, later, موريتانيا.[1]
