Jonathan Spencer is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel - Naming at Verisign. His primary responsibility at Verisign is to oversee legal support for the company's naming division. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.[1]
Career History[edit | edit source]
Prior to joining Verisign, Mr. Spencer was the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Shenandoah Telecommunications. He has also worked at Cable & Wireless PLC, based in London and North Virginia. He has also worked as an Attorney at a private practice where he represented clients in a wide array of corporate and financial matters. Prior to opening his private practice, he worked at the following firms: Kirkpatrick and Lockhart (1998-1999); Keller and Heckman (1995-1998), Fleischman and Walsh (1988-1995), and Elias Matz Tiernan and Herrick (1986-1988).[2]
He has addressed audiences in the US and Europe on topics related to Internet and Law Department Management.[3]

Spencer did his JD at Duke University School of Law and received a BA in Applied Mathematics and Political Science from Brown University.[4]
