IGF 2016, the 11th annual IGF meeting, was held in Jalisco, Mexico.

Context[edit | edit source]

It was the first IGF meeting after the United Nations' General Assembly renewed its mandate at the WSIS +10 High Level Event in 2015.[1]

Theme[edit | edit source]

The main theme was "Enabling Inclusive and Sustainable Growth". [2] The forum featured dialogues and debates surrounding the following themes, among others:

  • Internet and Sustainable Development
  • Access and Diversity;
  • Youth and Gender Issues
  • Human Rights and Freedom of Expression Online
  • Cybersecurity
  • Multistakeholder Cooperation
  • Critical Internet Resources
  • Internet Governance Capacity Building
