Kenneth (Ken) J. Silva is the Senior Executive Advisor of Cyber Technologies at Booz Allen Hamilton.[1] Mr. Silva serves on the board of directors for the Information Technology, Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) and is the Chairman of the Internet Security Alliance.[2]

He has represented VeriSign on ICANN Committees.[3]

Career History

Prior to joining Booz Allen Hamilton, he was an independent consultant for Technology and Cyber Security related issues.[4]

Mr. Silva is well known for his work at VeriSign as a Chief Technology Officer and Chief Security Officer at VeriSign.[5] He served as its Chief Security Office for 3 years and then as the Chief Technology officer for 3 years. He had been in VeriSign since 2000, however, it was officially announced in 2005.[6]

He has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications and security industries. He has also served as Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President[7] of Networking & Information Security at VeriSign. Before, he joined VeriSign, he was a part of the U.S National Security Agency as a Technical Director for 10 years. He has also worked at the United States Air Force for almost 10 years.[8]

Ken also taught courses at the National Cryptologic School.[9] He has been a member of the Technical Advisory Board of Trust Digital Llc.

He participates in committees for organizations like the National Infrastructure Protection Center, the White House ISP Security Panel, the ICANN DNS Security Panel, the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council and the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.[10]

Education

He has studied from The George Washington University and University of Maryland University College.[11]

Awards and Honors

In 2010, he was included in one of the top 25 CTOs for 2010 by IDG's InfoWorld.[12]
